Dress Code Requirements
Reflections School of Dance maintains a dress code to encourage concentration and a sense of inclusiveness as variations in attire can be distracting and contribute to feelings of inequality. Uniformity in dance wear allows the teachers to assess how well the students are implementing the technique being taught, problems with alignment, and other important aspects of dance training.
All students and visitors are kindly asked to remove street shoes upon entering the dance floor. We do recognize it is an inconvenience, but it is necessary to keep the floors clean for the dancers. Please keep the entry room tidy by hanging coats as well as putting away belongings in cubby holes.

Children’s Ballet, Tap and Jazz shoes can also be purchased at Payless shoes. Please Note: Wal-Mart, Target and Kmart sell a bedroom slipper that looks a little like a ballet slipper – but it is not appropriate for class. Wearing this kind of slipper in dance class may increase the risk of injury.
A limited selection of dance apparel is available for purchase in the studio lobby.
Drop Off - Encouraged
Here at Reflections we encourage you to drop off your student. We encourage this policy for the following reasons:
For parents not living close bywho are not going home between the beginning and end of their child's classes, you are welcoe to wait in our comfortable lobby area or we would suggest they visit one of the fine establishments near us.
In our studio we do have very large viewing windows. These windows are available for you to take a quick peak to check in with your student and ensure that your child is safely engaging in class. However we discourage parents from congregating or loitering near the window as it is distracting to the class, students, and teacher. If this is creates a distraction to the class the instructors do have permission to pull the window shades down. Thank you for your understanding.
Please be prompt with drop off and pick up. Teachers cannot be responsible for unsupervised children being dropped off early or picked up late. In an emergency of being caught in traffic, etc. call the office if possible so that we can make sure your child is well cared for while they wait.
Classroom Observation
During the first week of every other month ( Sept. Nov. Jan. Mar. May) parents may observe classes. Pre-school students also have an extra open house day during the last class in Dec. Never disrupt class. During the in-class observation week (or at any time if the door to the classroom is open), please refrain from giving instructions or distracting your child in any way. Please feel free to stay during for your student's class during these dedicated observation weeks if you are able to, but do not feel obligated. Large classes may be dismissed a few minutes early to help keep transitions between classes flowing smoothly.
We welcome parents to stay and observe your child's first one or two classes to ensure you and your child are comfortable and that the class is a good fit.
Attendance
All students are expected to attend their regularly scheduled classes. Inconsistent attendance holds back progress for the whole class and may result in reassessment of class placement. Each class offers a step forward in the educational process. A missed class could leave a child one step behind the other students. It is important for children to feel completely confident with the choreography and the year-end performance. Missing class could result in frustration for the students and their teachers and classmates.
Make Up Classes
Students who miss a class due to illness, weather, or other circumstances are welcome to do a make up class in another age and level appropriate class within a month of their absence and the same session. We have an automated system to schedule these makeups. You can find instructions on the Student Information Page: HERE.
